How does the text reply work?
Send one receipt photo and we reply with a private link that lasts 24 hours. Open it and verify the sending number when asked. Review the receipt, then create a separate split link for your friends.
Can I upload a photo instead?
Yes. Upload a receipt on the website, paste a Toast receipt link, or enter the bill yourself. You can combine up to five receipts if one person paid them all.
Do my friends need an account?
No. Only the person starting the split signs in. Friends can pick their names and see what they owe without signing up or installing anything.
Can I do the whole split myself?
Yes. Add everyone’s names and assign the items before sharing. Friends open directly to their amount. They can review their items and make adjustments if needed.
What about shared dishes and couples?
Tap everyone who shared a dish and its cost is divided between them. On the invitation, one person can select several names and pay their combined amount.
Do you send or collect the money?
No. Halvsies calculates the shares and helps you open Venmo. You confirm the payment there. Amounts update if someone changes the items.
